Images   The Mayo family

The fire began about 1.00pm on 8 Oct 2006. Witnesses stated that it became large in moments and the wind was blowing at gale force strength.  he wind had dropped to almost nothing while we were taking these pictures. Rain was falling which hampered the RFS back burning. No houses or buildings  were damaged

IMG_3380 - 3391 (marked below, further down the page) show the meeting of two quick moving fires.  The fire burnt right down to the buildings in the Narrabeen Sports Centre which is on the Wakehurst Parkway and close to the back of the War Veteran's Homes on Collaroy Plateau then into a more inaccessible area in the valley between Collaroy Plateau, Cromer and Warringah Road,  Belrose.
